How to Change An Attitude?

Wow, this is a big thing. Most people know they should but they just wouldn’t change. Why bother changing an attitude? It is because this is the only way to adopt successful strategies and be like them.

The real secrets only lie in 6 R’s. Let’s take a look at each one of them.

1. Review
This is the very first step and the most important step. This is the step where you identify your problem in terms of your thinking and behaviour. Often it is easier to take it if you identify the problems yourself rather than a person telling you what you need to do.

So, do a review on your own. What did I do wrong the past week? Which area of my life I did not do well? What was the cause when such problem persisted?

You will be surprised when you identify these problems. Don’t feel bad when you know you are weak in certain areas. All of us is weak in a particular area, as long as we know how we should work on it.

You may ask the people around you if you can take it and you must ask from a credible source. You wouldn’t want to ask how you can become a millionaire from a guy whose profession is cleaning the toilet.

2. Resolve
Now that you have identified your problems and it is time for you to make up your mind and decide firmly that you want to make a change in your attitude.

3 Qualities of an Excellent Character

There are 3 qualities of an excellent character in a person. So if you want to be excellent, adopt these qualities and you are one.

1. Having A Great Sense of Responsibility
The foundation of character is the acceptance of responsibility. Let’s say you are a the head in the marketing department and your boss has given you a task to conduct a marketing campaign for the latest jewelry items of your company.

So obviously you need to assign different tasks to different sub-ordinates in your department. Some are doing the write-ups, some are editing the graphics and design, some are doing the banner, some are doing the printing or some are even promoting the new jewelry items.

Let’s say your designer is dragging his part and as a result, it becomes impossible to meet the deadline, what would you do? Is it your fault or your sub-ordinate’s fault?

You see, when you boss acknowledge the problem, he would not go to your sub-ordinate but to you alone. It is truly the manager’s (your) reponsibility to ensure everything go well on track.

So if you tell your boss it is not your fault but your sub-ordinate’s fault, he would not be able to accept it. Imagine if you were the boss, you wouldn’t accept any excuse like that too.

Character Versus Talents/Skills

The differences between character versus talents and skills can be summarized as below.

  1. Characters must be developed, whereas talents / skills can be provided instantaneously.
  2. Characters takes time, effort and commitment to develop whereas talents / skills takes time to practice.
  3. Character involves your relationship with people whereas talents / skills involve your relationships with the tasks.
  4. Character involves inward measures whereas talents / skills involve outward measures. A very good guitarist does not necessarily mean he is a loving husband.
  5. Character lasts for a life time whereas talents / skills are temporary and requires constant changes.

That’s the differences between character versus talents /skills.

Character Versus Personality

You’ve often heard of a person with characters but does exactly does it mean to be a person of character?

Character is the set of qualities that make up a person.

So how does it differ from personality?

Although character is related to personality, it is not the same thing. Personality is primarily inborn traits, while character consists of learned behaviour.

Personality traits are individual, subjective and vary widely. So if you are a person who is so quiet, that is one of your inborn traits - personality.

However, character traits are different. They are constant, objective and timeless. So if over the years, you have learned the skill of social networking, it is going to bring you a character of being an outgoing person.

That’s the difference between character and personality.

The Richest Place on Earth

Where do you think the richest place on earth is? White House? Dubai? Cinderella’s palace? or the greatest King’s mansion?

The richest place on earth has a lot of potentials… that were never realized, a lot of dreams… that never came to pass, a lot of buildings… that were not built, a lot of relationships… that were never restored and it is a place that is full of greatness… that were never unleashed.

It is the graveyard.

The-Richest-Place-On-Earth

Have you ever thought for a split of second that the greatest tragedy in life would be failure? It is actually not.  It is failing to see the pontential on the inside of us, that we dare not even try.

Graveyard is a place that is full of potential that remained unfulfilled.

The Little Secret of Unleashing Your Potential - Your Position in Life

I learned something about unleashing your potential a few days ago and I thought it would be good to share with you what I have learned.

Did you know each and everyone of us has the same amount of neurons in our brains? This is important because it basically means we all have the same hardware and potential to achieve great things in life.

If successful people can do it, so can you. It is only a matter of changing the way you see your position in life. What do I mean?

Now, let’s say if you position yourself as an underachiever who is never meant to achieve anything in life, it will not drive you to take massive action or even try doing it.

The Importance Of Preparation Stage

Have you ever noticed why the world nowadays are putting more focus on SPEED? Not so long ago, computer users were quite satisfied with Pentium 4. However, out of the sudden, Core 2 Duo are being introduced. Why do people tend to be multi-tasking nowadays? Basically, the answer is quite obvious, it’s because competitions are stiff and the cost to bear for being slow is very substantial.

Since speed is so essential, sometimes people tends to do things without putting much consideration or finding out the purposes first. They just do it first because they are afraid of being left out. Think for a moment, are you somehow one of them? I would admit that I am. Sometimes we just do things for the sake of doing things without knowing why or the significance behind it.

ladder02 Well, in this blog, I just want to share one of the wisdom of all time which is called "The Importance Of Preparation Stage".  In this demanding and stressful world, people tend to overlook this basic step. So many people are rushing to climb the ladder of success only to find out that their ladders are actually leaning against the wrong wall. Scary isn’t it?

#2 - Create A Memory That’s Worth Remembering

Andre Agassi - world’s number one tennis player - had always been performing at his peak. However, for some reasons, he started to go into a slump and began to lose focus on what he has been doing.

He kept missing the ball and making wrong moves. Nothing seemed to be in order. As a result, he lost his confidence and his performance started to drop.

Regain-Confidence-Andre-Agassi

Finally, he had decided to do something about his dropping performance. He consulted the world’s top motivational speaker - Anthony Robbins - on how he could go back to perform at his peak.

Anthony Robbins explained to him that the reason why he started to drop in terms of his performance is because he was not in the same resourceful states he was in.

In other words, he was not in the same mood of performance.

What Anthony Robbins then did was, he got Andre Agassi to watch videotapes of the matches he won in the past. As he watched, he realised that the way he played was very different compared to the way he presently carried himself on the tennis courts.

#1 - Let People Know You Need Them

Do you find it hard to say the words, ‘I need you’?

I used to find it very difficult to say this because I didn’t want to give the impression to others that I am such a weak person. I want to be strong in the eyes of others, even though I am so weak deep in my heart.

I once told my leader that I wanted leave KL for good. I want to have that kind of lifestyle that I thought I deserve. I gave him as many reasons as I could but I still wasn’t able to convince him.

He kept asking me to stay back in KL because he told me that he needed me to stay. Truly, I thought over it and I’m glad that I chose to stay back.

People-Need-You

He influenced me because he told me that he needed me. He still needs me.

It is not so much about him needing me to stay and help him to lead people together. It is the potential he sees in me and he wants to bring me where he sees me to be.

So if you are a leader, you need to let them know that you need them. They will feel appreciated when they acknowledge that they could be of use for the organisation or company.

Winning-With-People
